28 november 2024

Thursday, November 28 – SpeakEasy Spoken word transformed the Brussels Planetarium into a magical stage for spoken word! Under the dome’s twinkling starry sky, you had the chance to send your words into space. Whether you are an experienced poet, a spoken word artist, or have always wanted to share your talent: this was your moment! You could participate in the Open Call or hope for a spot at the door. You can find the winners and their poems below.

The theme of this edition was HOPE.

Were you one of our “BXL stars” who shone under a unique backdrop of star image projections and live drawings? Or are you still waiting for the next edition?

If you prefer to enjoy the creativity of others, perhaps you came as a visitor, grabbed a drink and experienced an evening of inspiring performances by local and international talent. The evening was a unique fusion of poetry, art and astronomy, with live drawings on the dome for the first time this year. Superb illustrations were provided by Joana Estrela (@joanaestrelaaa) and Milena Sonneveld in collaboration with FRAMED, a collaborative art project of the Royal Academy of Antwerp, coordinated by Janna Beck. https://framed.ap-arts.be .

FRAMED is a platform that creates a common ground for immersive experiences. It encourages public participation and interaction. Its accessible approach encourages everyone to make the most of their creativity and intuition. It is a stage for performance based on shared improvisation in a fluid, post-digital world. The charcoal figure is prompted into conscious action by a creative community.

29 & 30 november 2024

This tenth edition of the Brussels Planetarium Poetry Fest marked the climax of a European translation of our project to Planetaria in Tartu, Vienna and A Coruna (UTM). The resulting diverse, beautiful, creative works were presented on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 November 2024 at the Brussels Planetarium.

An evening of international poets, each assisted by a projection created by a team of 3-5 artists. Work ranging from classic typography and analog film recordings to AI image generation and gaming design: we had it all in this edition.

More information about the artists who performed on Friday and Saturday can be found via the button below:
